Lumière - Fredrik Mattsson

10 February - 22 March 2012
During the International Furniture Fair of Stockholm well known furniture designer Fredrik Mattson launches a new candleholder produced by Gallery Pascale. The candleholder Lumière is quite an intrigueing piece in its simple outline and user-friendly design.

Lumière is a very good example of Fredrik Mattson’s often playful and yet architectonic designs: ”I decontructed the traditional candleholder, or ’night-lamp’, and took a closer look at the separate parts – the candleholder, the base, the handle – then simplified or rather purified the design of these components and put them back together again. The final result feels like an architectonic model of a candleholder, almost like a three-dimensional sketch. I also played around with different heights and where to place the handle.”

The Lumière candleholder is made of lasercut steel, it is powder painted . It comes in three different styles. Heights:15 cm ; 11 cm and 7 cm . Price : 30 euros or 299 skr.

art glass - Alexander Lervik

10 February - 6 March 2010
Gallery Pascale, the first dedicated design gallery in Sweden, will be hosting an exhibition of a limited edition series of art glass by prizewinning Swedish designer Alexander Lervik. The collection is composed out of unique pieces of glass that Alexander made in collaboration with Kosta Boda. The technique of putting glass mass on top of blowed glass in this way is not used before at Orrefors/Kosta Boda.

Swedish designer Alexander Lervik is born in Stockholm in 1972. He started out in design as a carpenter apprentice for two years (1993–1994). He studied three years of product and interior design at Beckmans School of Design (1995–1998). Alexander Lervik is represented at the renowned National Museum in Stockholm, Sweden, Nasjonal museum and the design museum in Oslo, Norway and at the Röhsska Museum of Design and Decorative Arts in Gothenburg, Sweden.

His company Lervik Design is first and foremost dedicated to product design and interior design. The clients are spread throughout the world with the majority in Scandinavia. The tasks vary from designing furniture, textile, glass as well as industrial design – to interior design of restaurants, night clubs and boutiques. Lervik Design are a small firm that has the privilege to work with the most prestigious assignments within each of these areas. The jobs are almost exclusively limited to conceptual solutions where a strong idea forms the basis of the design.
Alexander Lervik is the designer behind the best selling candleholder “Skugga” from Gallery Pascale and the “Red Chair” and lamp “Mybrain” also designed for Gallery Pascale.

candle collages - a limited edition series of candelabras

design
16 January - 6 February 2010
Gallery Pascale, the first dedicated design gallery in Sweden, will be hosting an exhibition of a limited edition series of candelabras by prizewinning Swedish design duo Folkform. Folkform has created its Candle Collages series for Gallery Pascale in cooperation with Liljeholmen Stearin Candle Factory.

The collection is comprised of unique candelabras and candleholders. Simple tealight candles are placed side-by-side with pillar candles and more exclusive hand-crafted votives. The various lights are traditionally used in separate contexts. The new candelabras combine these different types of candles with unique materials to create an entirely new form of expression. Folkform’s Candle Collages are both functional objects and collector’s pieces.

Grafisk design från Island
5 September - 10 October 2009
Gallery Pascale presents for the first time the work of the islandic grafik designer : Katrin Olina.
Katrin is well known in Sweden for her “tree” to hang cloths that she made for Svedese a few years ago.

Illustrated reminders consists of a serie of silk print posters, drawings and acrylic sketches. The A0-size posters based on Olina’s 85 square meter installation Eulenspiegel, which showed at Reykjavik Art Museum in 2008. She creates a striking graphic universe using drawing and computer technology.

In the serie of drawings in ink, pencil and acrylic, Katrin Olina takes the role of explorer, scientist, naturalist and collector. She sketches visions, samples and specimen that come from her own fantasy world.
